Hello, Y'all! Happy new year readers! This year my goal was to at least blog once a week but that didn't work out so well. However, we must carry on. Today I will post about a skincare routine, this is a part of three routines as I reside in a humid country at the moment but spend my holidays in Texas which is a stark difference from Ghana. My humid and summer skincare routine isn't any different other than my sunscreen is a waterproof, humid proof sunscreen {Banana Boat Sunscreen Sports Family Size Broad Spectrum Sun Care Sunscreen Lotion - SPF 50} and I go light on the serum beforehand because this sunscreen is pretty thick.

If you want to know more about sunscreen use check my post here.

I have combination skin with a very oily forehead and more recently cheek area around my nose. I am also just recovering from a bad sunburn on my forehead and cheeks that occurred one day in which I had sweated off my sunscreen in the hot Ghana sun and I was standing outside for 30 minutes waiting for the bus. I had also done a glycolic peel that morning. NOT a good result to be honest. My skin is leathery and has a lot of hyperpigmented patches as well as stress breakouts which I picked and turned into scars. I am also getting older which means wrinkles are here to stay. So with these concerns, my 8 steps Korean skincare routine targets them.

I start by washing my face with a bar of Kojic acid soap for 60 seconds. Then I follow up with a facial scrub {St. Ives Acne Control Apricot Face Scrub} to smooth out the bumpy rough skin, as well as the dried dead skin. Sometimes I apply them simultaneously and the results have been wonderful. My skin has been really smooth lately.

I tone with Neutrogena Rapid Clear 2-in-1 Fight and Fade Toner. Then I apply It's Skin Power 10 Formula LI Effector Face Serum and BERGAMO Intensive Snake Syn-Ake Wrinkle Care Cream as an eye cream. Then I finalize with a hydrating matte sunscreen (if I'm indoors or during winter in TX) {Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+/PA++++} or Banana Boat Sunscreen Sports Family Size Broad Spectrum Sun Care Sunscreen Lotion - SPF 50 (going out during the summer or when I'm in Ghana).

My evening routine changes every other day. Mostly it is based on how tired I am and if I have enough time in the evening before bed. I do try to stick with the routine because I have been seeing results.

1-3: If I wear makeup during the day I take my eye makeup off with Equate oil-free eye makeup remover then the rest of my makeup off with Shills Natural Science Cherry Blossom Make-up Removing Oil (during winter in TX) or  Aritaum Aloe No Wash cleansing water (summer or when I am in Ghana) and wash it off with a face brush and my Kojic acid soap. After washing, I follow up with my masks. If I mask one day, the next day I wouldn't but I resume the day after that.

4-8: On the masking days, I use regular masks first (deep cleaning, clay (Innisfree Juju Volcanic Color Clay Mask (Brightening)), acne, antioxidant ( Rainshadow Labs Bamboo Cranberry Antioxidant Mask), moisturizing masks), I use my Neutrogena toner next, then I follow up with sheet masks (currently using DERMAL Korea, Farmstay, HABA, Babyish, KOSE, Milatte, MediHeal, the SAEM, and NOBLESSE). I don't use them every day because of my combination skin type. I also prefer to use them at night because some might be too greasy for me to go out with.  I follow with the same eye cream as the morning, then I finalize with The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalane.

On the non-masking days, I do a quick 5-10 minute eye mask after washing and toning, I am currently using  Purederm Collagen Eye Zone Pad Patches Mask Wrinkle Care}. Then I finalize with the same eye cream, the Retinoid, and the Scinic Honey All in One Ampoule Serum if my skin still feels a bit dry.

That's it for my routine!
