Hello, Y'all! It's the last day of 2019 and since I am starting the new year again with posting resolutions, I decided to at least try today to post about something: My skincare routine!

My routine changes based on the weather in Texas and in Ghana depending on where I am and at the time of the year. There are no drastic changes in my routine because I have combination skin, so all that changes with the seasons is my sunscreen and sometimes my night cream.

+Acne, blackheads, whiteheads
+Acne scars
+Bumpy rough skin
+Dry eyes
+Dry cheeks

+ Switched from physical to chemical exfoliation
+Double cleansing with oil cleansers
+Tanaka facial massaging with a Jade roller (occasionally)
+Removing Alcohol from my routine
+Toning properly and washing my face for 60 seconds thanks to LA Beautyologist
+Skincare masks at least 3x a week.

1.  Some people skip washing their faces in the morning (especially if they cleanse well at night), for me, I cannot do that because I sweat a lot but I have switched to gentle, sulfate-free washing of my face with COSRX Centella Cleansing Powder and Innisfree The Minimum Facial Cleanser for Sensitive Skin.

2. Next is my first toner, I use MUJI Sensitive Skin High Moisturizing Toning Water.

3. The next step is my Rainshadow Labs Anti Aging Clear Skin Serum-ASCS (de-potted into an amber bottle for preservation). I just started using salicylic acid as a daily serum in my routine, adult acne is hard to defeat and I noticed it is easier to manage with this serum.

4. Then right before my second toner, I apply eye cream, JM SOLUTION Glow Luminous Flower Firming Eye Cream.

5. My second toner is a 10-minute sheet mask.

When my husband first got these masks from my Japan trip I didn't really know what to do with them cause they're not individually wrapped and not intensely soaked in toner/serum. But now I use them quickly in the mornings (they're all 10 minutes except for the green one which is a morning mask and is 1 minute!). I am currently using the pink aging mask (hence the Ziploc to keep it sealed).
(From L to R ) KOSE Cosmeport CLEAR TURN BABYISH Mask, KOSE Cosmeport CLEAR TURN PRINCESS VEIL Anti-aging Care Mask, KOSE Cosmeport CLEAR TURN PRINCESS VEIL Morning Skin Care Mask, KOSE Cosmeport CLEAR TURN BABYISH Precious Milky Mask. These masks can be easily found on Amazon.

6. I finally finish up with my sunscreen (Banana Boat Sunscreen Sports Broad Spectrum Sun Care Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50  / CANMAKE Mermaid Skin Gel UV SPF 50+ PA ++++ PURITO Centella Green Level Safe Sun SPF50+ PA++++ / Hadalabo Skin lab Gokujun UV white gel SPF50 + PA ++++).

If you want to know more about my sunscreen use check my post here.

1. This is where I start double-cleansing. I use my Shills Natural Science Cherry Blossom Make-up Removing Oil first to remove all the sunscreen, makeup, and dirt from my face then wash with Kojic acid soap for 60 seconds and a pore brush, Beauteque Pore Control Blackhead Brush (similar) for my nose and forehead areas.

I switched from Micellar water to Cleansing oils because as I got older, my skin has become drier around my cheeks and when I cleanse at night with just micellar and then my soap it feels taut, but the cleansing oil adds some moisture beforehand while breaking down all the gunk and makeup which makes it easier to clean as well as making it a more comfortable experience.

2. Next is my first toner, I use MUJI Sensitive Skin High Moisturizing Toning Water.

3. After toning,  then exfoliate with The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution. I apply it to my hands and pat it into my skin. This is my chemical exfoliation step, I've noticed a big difference in my skin when I stopped using scrubs on my face and using this instead.

4. After exfoliation, my second toner is next, I use a hydrating gel ampoule, Farmstay All in One Dr-V8 Vitamin Ampoule (depotted in an airless pump bottle for sterility and easier use).

5. Then I apply my targeted active serum, right now I am using The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%.

5. After applying serum, I tone again with a sheet mask. This time for 15-30 minutes.

(L to R ): The Face Shop Real Nature Lemon Citron Sheet Mask, MediHeal Vita Lightbeam Essential Mask EX, the SAEM Grapefruit Natural Mask Sheet, the SAEM Charcoal Natural Mask Sheet, the SAEM Rice Natural Mask Sheet, Noblesse Tea Tree Fermentation Essence Mask, Milatte Fashiony Ginseng Mask, My Beauty Diary Black Pearl Sheet Mask, My Beauty Diary Royal Pearl Sheet Mask, My Beauty Diary Red Vine Sheet mask, DERMAL Korea Wine Collagen Essence Mask, DERMAL Korea Pearl Collagen Essence Mask, Pure Smile Pearl Mask, HABA Japan (Health and Beauty Aid) Rose Honey and Milk Ceramide Mask.

5. I finalize with Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream and SANA Nameraka Isoflavone Q10 Cream as my eye cream.

6. While my face is still moist and before the creams absorb I occasionally do the Tanaka facial massage with a Rose Quartz Roller Slimming Face Massager (can also be done with your hands). The Tanaka massage helps reduce puffiness, direct lymphatic flow, and improves circulation. Plus it feels really good and relaxing!

1. ACNE. Whenever I have breakouts, I spot treat with two treatments Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Eliminating Spot Gel and Clean and Clear PERSA-GEL® 10 Acne Medication. I use this combo after my toner and right before the ampoule, avoiding the pimple area when applying the rest of the serums/creams, etc.

From L to R: Bio Miracle micro fill spot patch, Yes to Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Zit Zapping Dots, Peach Slices Acne Spot Dots*, The Creme Shop What Acne? Invisible Makeup Patches.

I also use acne dots/pads for overnight use. I have moved away from using spot treatments often cause they can be inconvenient. I love how they stay on all night and even as I am doing the rest of my routine.

2. MASKS. I use The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution twice a week and then my other masks once a week. (usually Tue/Thu/Sun).

(L to R): Missha SOS PEEL correct Cream Mask, The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution, Rainshadow Labs Bamboo Cranberry Antioxidant Mask, Innisfree Juju Volcanic Color Clay Mask (Brightening), Clean and Clear CONTINUOUS CONTROL® Acne Cleanser (I use this for 10 mins on my face as a mask when I have breakouts- works wonders!), PETITFEE Collagen and Co Q10 Hydrogel Eye Patch.

3. MAKEUP REMOVAL. I really don't wear makeup every day, maybe once a week or when I have events to go to so I don't use these products often. But before double cleansing, I take off my waterproof eye makeup with Equate Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover.

4. Micellar water (Garnier Water Rose Micellar cleansing water) has been phased out of my usual routine just because I find oil cleansing more moisturizing and gentle on my skin.

However, I still love micellar water and I cannot let go! I use it now for nights that I simply cannot bear to wash my face and I'm just so tired I need to sleep ASAP.

And that's it for my simple routine!
Ore :)
